A Peasant Wedding in VR
Inspired by the paintings of Pieter Bruegel
Virtual Threads is a VR project that recreates 16th-century European peasant communities as seen in Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s A Peasant Wedding (1567).
Using CLO3D and Unreal Engine with historical and material culture research methods, the project builds a 3D virtual reality environment, clothing, objects, and avatars.
Participants can explore the space depicted by Bruegel to see their world in a direct and interactive way.

A reconstructed portrait in VR of Johannes Kepler
This project recreates a portrait of 16th-century astronomer and mathematician, Johannes Kepler. The VR experience shows the elliptical orbit of planets, a discovery by Kepler, and how this work connected the the religious and political beliefs in Europe during the Counter Reformation.

A Student Research Experience in VR
Virtual Threads
This project explores how CLO3D, a 3D garment design and simulation software, fosters student creativity and learning in the recreation of historical master study garments. Upper-level undergraduates selected historical images, conducted research, and digitally recreated the garments depicted in the image, culminating in a VR exhibition.
